Lower Sixth Form charity representatives from all the boarding and day Houses put together a variety of games and stalls for the School’s annual Charities Fair.
Pupils chose a variety of charities to support, including Build Africa, Meningitis Now, The Vanessa Grant Girls School Trust, Bloodwise, ORBIS, and Cancer Research.
The event provides an opportunity for fundraising, while also raising pupil’s awareness of different charities that are important to their friends at School. For instance, using a crazy golf set, School House raised money for Bloodwise, as there is a boy in the house whose sister struggled with leukaemia for a number of years. Bloodwise was the charity that helped her through her treatment.
The event also helps new pupils to the School get a taste for philanthropic activities that they can become involved with during their time at School.
Some stalls were just for fun, such as throwing or kicking rugby balls to score points and water balloon angry birds, whilst others provided information to raise awareness of different social issues.
Pupils raised just under £800 during the course of the afternoon.
